Celebrating Hogg Middle School Library

Ribbon cutter Martha Wong grew up in the Houston Heights. She attended Hogg Junior High School, and then Reagan High School in Houston. Martha has a long list of firsts, incuding first Asian American School Principal in the State of Texas. In 1993, she became the Houston City Council's first elected Asian American Councilwoman, and was elected to three successive terms. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and both a master's degree and doctorate from the University of Houston.

The photos below show the beautiful space and early attendance - by the time of the program, the room was full.
Thanks to Principal Angela Sugarek and Librarian Mary Chance for their vision, sweat equity and enthusiasm
to make this happen for the benefit of all Hogg students.
