Students Need Libraries in HISD - Our Mission
Every Houston ISD student deserves
a full-time certified school librarian
and a fully-stocked library.
The mission of Students Need Libraries in HISD
is to make this happen by persistently providing information to the HISD School Board, HISD librarians and their stakeholders students, parents, community residents
as well as campus and district personnel.

He's Getting an Earful.” Houston Chronicle, 8 Oct 2021. “Specifically, House has heard about transportation woes exacerbated by a driver shortage, the district’s struggles to appropriately educate students with special needs, the neglect of school libraries and unequal access to resources and funding across the district.”
The videos below illustrate the many facets of strong school libraries as stated by principals and other school administrators, teachers, and even HISD students.
Both the 1 minute trailer and the full film are available. Many thanks to School Librarians of Rhode Island, a section of the Rhode Island Library Association for sharing this under a Creative Commons public license 4.0.
